‘Crucial’ textiles network for Martex Fiber

United States – US pre-consumer textiles recycler Martex Fiber has acquired the South Carolina-based Waste Services Division of Bollag International, which collects and markets textiles wastes including natural and synthetic waste, cuttings, rags and fabric remnants. All 325 employees spread across Charlotte, Honduras and Nicaragua will be joining the Martex team.

The move forms part of Martex Fiber’s worldwide expansion strategy, which included the takeover of Texas company JBM Fibers last June. ‘We have increased our global recycling capability to over 160 million pounds per year which provides a tremendous environmental benefit,’ notes Martex Fiber’s president Jimmy Jarrett. ‘This acquisition also ensures ongoing supply security for our ”Made in USA” fibre expansion, yarn production and global trading distribution.’

According to Martex Fiber’s ceo Rick Otero, Bollag International president Mitch Bollag has built a first-class operation and a great global network, covering areas where Martex ‘did not have certain resources’ and providing ‘crucial’ support towards the success of the company’s ”No Fiber Left Behind” mission.

Bollag himself hails a ‘remarkable’ collaboration with Martex Fiber over the past four years. ‘Our partnership has been a key element in our ability to focus and grow our textile waste services business through small to mid-size customers and innovate customer service and product distribution,’ he adds.
