The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) has unveiled a new identity: Tyres Europe.
The rebrand highlights its mission to promote a competitive and innovative tyre manufacturing industry ‘for safe, smart, and sustainable mobility’.
The association’s board has also elected Livio Magni of Pirelli as president and Paolo Pompei of Nokian Tyres as vice-president. Both appointments are for a two-year term.
A strategic pillar
‘The tyre industry is a strategic pillar for Europe’s mobility, prosperity and safety,’ says Magni. ‘Through Tyres Europe, we will work closely with policymakers to secure a predictable business environment that fosters investment and innovation.’
Pompei adds: ‘Our sector is investing in capacity, efficiency, and R&D to serve European mobility reliably. Tyres Europe will advocate for industrial policies that empower manufacturers to deliver value and be recognised for their performance.’
Policy focus
Secretary general Adam McCarthy says tyres are as vital to vehicles as batteries and semiconductors. ‘Tyres Europe will keep engaging with EU institutions to develop coherent rules supporting competitiveness, circularity, and innovation,’ he notes.
The association will continue to represent the industry’s interests on upcoming legislation, including the EUDR, ESPR, ELVR, Euro 7, and chemical regulations.
The official launch event will take place on 18 November in Brussels, featuring high-level speakers from the European Commission and Parliament.
