United Arab Emirates – Recycling firm Asian Fibres of the United Arab Emirates is investing US$ 100 million in a modern facility for the handling of PET bottles in Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven emirates. According to Arabianbusiness.com, the factory is currently under construction and is expected to be fully operational by May 2015.

At a ceremony held last week, Asian Fibres unveiled its plan for what is claimed to be ‘the single largest green recycling project’ in the Middle East-North Africa region. Intended to incorporate ‘the latest innovation and cutting-edge technology’, the plant will initially not operate on full capacity. The facility will provide work for at least 600 people.
