Germany / Denmark – The Germany-based Reclay environmental and waste management group has acquired a stake in Shark Solutions A/S of Svinninge in Denmark.
The latter recycles polyvinyl butyral (PVB) – a plastic used as an interlayer in windscreens, safety glass and construction glass. The recycled material has applications in a wide range of industrial production areas.
To date, the Danish company has been active primarily in Europe. Following the Reclay Group link-up, it is planning to move into the US market where large volumes of end-of-life windscreens are available.
Michael Laupper, Managing Director of the Reclay Group, has been appointed to the supervisory board of Shark Solutions with responsibility for the strategic development and expansion of the co-operative venture. He says: ‘We are delighted that our years of experience in cycle waste management and in establishing logistics structures, together with our contacts in the waste disposal and secondary raw materials sectors, will play a key role in the continued development of Shark Solutions.’
The Reclay Group had already expanded into Austria, as well as into Central and Eastern Europe. Shareholder Raffael A. Fruscio comments: ‘As a dynamic, growth-oriented corporate group, we are interested in promising new international business fields that complement and expand our own activities.’
