United States – Nine finalists have been announced for the inaugural Recycling Innovators Forum. The short-listed proposals, chosen from 50 entries, include new ideas on plastic composites with bio-content, and float/sink separation of PP and HDPE.
Finalists will make presentations to a panel of judges at the fourth annual Resource Recycling Conference, to be held in Louisville, Kentucky this August. The new Forum believes its initiative will foster innovation, originality and ‘measurable improvement in recycling customer experiences, processes, technology and markets’.
The judges, including recognised leaders in recycling and market development, will makes awards of US$ 20 000, US$ 5000 and US$2000 for the best three ideas.
‘Innovation is the key to maintaining the vibrancy of any industry, and we look forward to seeing new approaches that will strengthen America’s recycling industry while giving more of our resources a second life,’ said Steve Russell, vice president of plastics for the American Chemistry Council – one of the sponsors of the event.
