South-east Asia is becoming a market of growing opportunities for tech provider Sorema. The plastics recycling plant manufacturer based in Como, Italy has recently sold two PET bottle lines to Commercial Plastics.
One PET washing and recycling plant has been installed at the company’s operations in Myanmar’s capital Yangon, with a second plant to be up and running ‘very soon’ at Commercial Plastics in Vietnam.
No compromise
Both lines can produce up to 2.2 tonnes of flakes per hour. The machines have been built with ‘high-quality’ components, starting with the prewash module for label removal and ‘optimal’ cleaning of the material surface. ‘This technology prepares the material for better bottle sorting and reduces the overall wear and tear on the entire line without compromising the lifespan of the de-labeller, whose first maintenance is scheduled only after several months,’ says Sorema.

Smart de-labelling
Removal of PVC labels is achieved with a combination of de-labeller, wet separator and material detectors. Finally, the label glue is removed with technology which achieves the ‘highest standards’ for rPET required by the major bottle brand owners.
Remote markets
Sorema has built an expertise in providing tech solutions to less obvious markets like Myanmar. In 2022 the company set up a processing plant for post-consumer PET bottles at OK Plast in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
