United States – UK recycling equipment specialist Middleton Engineering has installed a second bespoke conveyor at Biffa Polymers in the USA to enhance the processing of food grade high density polyethylene (rHDPE) at its ‘first of its kind’ recycling plant in Redcar.
Some months ago, Biffa Polymers announced a US$ 7.9 million investment to double output for its HDPE recycling capacity to some 20 000 tonnes from early 2017.
The new piece of equipment with a length of 9.3 metres was designed to meet its ‘precise process requirements’ and is part of a separate new recycling line for mixed post-consumer rigid polypropylene. The 600mm wide cross-stabilised 3-ply rubber belt efficiently transfers material from a shredder up to the in-feed conveyor for a granulator at a rate of 1.5 tonnes per hour.
