Mega plastics plant for Megaport

Bulgaria – Bulgarian plastics film and packaging group Megaport has established a new Euro 1.84 million (US$ 2.47 million) recycling plant at Veliko Turnovo. Said to be equipped with the ‘most advanced recycling equipment in the country’, which was supplied by Austrian firm Erema, the facility is capable of handling up to 1.8 tonnes of material per hour and turning it into 1.2 tonnes of granulate.

Located near the processor’s main packaging and recycling unit in Veliko Turnovo and employing 30 workers, this new development will source polyethylene mainly from waste collections and processing plants in the urban areas of the country’s capital Sofia as well as Varna.

Its construction was supported by the government’s operational development programme headed "Development of the Competitiveness of the Bulgarian Economy".

Founded in 1992, Megaport specialises in creating a range of film and packaging products including cast polypropylene film, low-density polyethylene films and biodegradable flexible packaging using the OXO degradation process. Around 75% of the company’s output is aimed at the domestic market while other outlets include Germany, Spain, France and Macedonia.
