Malaysia – Diversified Malaysian recycling company Heng Hiap Industries is investing several million US dollars in a new plastics facility in order to ‘at least double’ its capacity and meet increased demand for its specialised grades of recycled resins.
Founded in 2002, Heng Hiap is a broad-based recycling company involved in plastics, metals and recovered paper which employs around 250 people, with 110 workers in its plastics division. The Johor-based firm plans to move into a new 10 000 sq metre facility later this year which will consolidate several smaller operations.
The company currently handles 4000 tonnes of scrap plastics per month, of which most is polypropylene. According to Heng Hiap’s management team, the move should ′at least double the existing capacity up to 1200 tonne′ of recycled resin per month.
