K 2016: plastics pioneers presenting new recycling tech

Germany – Preparations are in full swing for what is described as the world’€™s No. 1 trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry. The name of the event? K 2016. The location? Düsseldorf, Germany. The show will run from October 19 to 26 and has been ‘€˜booked out’€™ for months, with reportedly 3100 exhibitors from almost 60 nations signing up to show off their newest products and services across more than 170 000 square metres of exhibition floor space.

Size-reduction specialist Weima will attend the flagship event to premiere its all-new WKS single-shaft shredder series with 1400, 1800 (on display) and 2200 mm working widths. The machines have been specifically designed for plastics applications and enable shredding of voluminous objects, tear-resistant fibres and film.

Meanwhile, RecoSTAR dynamic 215 is the name of Starlinger’s new line that is said to allow users to take a leap forward in polyolefin recycling. ‘The high degree of automation makes it possible to operate even a line of this size with the same personnel as smaller lines, working efficiently with minimum energy consumption,’ says Paul Niedl, head of sales at Starlinger.

AMUT Ecotech, part of the AMUT Group, will promote its latest innovation – the SBS 201 mobile single-stage ballistic separator mounted on a flat-bed trailer. Weighing 7.5 tonnes, the hook-lift unit with hydraulic conveyor belt can be easily transported to the location where its use is required, according to the manufacturer.

Other big players at the show will include Herbold Meckesheim, Pallmann, TOMRA Sorting Systems and Steinert. The previous K show in 2013 attracted a total of 218 000 visitors and 3220 exhibitors to Düsseldorf, including 128 620 international visitors and 2159 international exhibitors.
