The Netherlands – A new plastics recycling operation is being built at Geleen in the south of the Netherlands. Once at full production, it will have the capacity to process 100 000 tonnes of polypropylene and polyethylene per year and will boast around 100 direct employees.

Total investment will be Euro 75 million (US$ 103 million) over three phases. The first of these, costing Euro 35 million (US$ 48.3 million), is expected to lead to production start-up by the end of 2015 and to create up to 40 jobs.

Project initiator is Quality Circular Polymers (QCP) – a firm formed by two Dutch entrepreneurs with experience in petrochemicals, namely ceo Huub Meesen and chief operating officer Marc Houtermans. The investor is newly-formed Chemelot Ventures, with a local investment firm as co-investor. QCP is working with SITA Netherlands, according to executives of the recycling company.
