BHS tech boosts recycling practices in Oman

Oman – Al Ramooz National from Oman has selected Bulk Handling Systems (BHS) to provide two mixed waste recycling facilities, a 220 tonne per day plant in Ibri and a 150 tonne per day facility in Buraimi.

Both BHS systems will become operational at the start of the new year and will process municipal solid waste from the governorates of Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi in northwest Oman.

Purchasing the recycling equipment from BHS is described as ‘an investment in the long-term sustainability of Oman’, so says Ali Saleh Al Sahib, chairman of Al Ramooz chairman.

The recycling tech includes the BHS Metering Bin Liberator Class to open bags and provide the system a steady flow of material. BHS Tri-Disc screens extract organics and separate containers from fibre while Nihot Single Drum Separators segregate dry recyclables from bulkier items, such as wood and rock.

‘We were able to collaborate on creative layouts to immediately maximise our recovery and value from the waste stream while simultaneously building in the flexibility to expand our processing capabilities in the future,’ comments Ali Saleh Al Sahib.

He cites the fact that, in partnership with Veolia in France, Al Ramooz secured a a seven year contract with the Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (Be’ah) for the collection, transportation and landfilling of waste from some 250 000 residents.
