Europe – The European Recovered Paper Association (ERPA) has appointed Thomas Braun as vice president while Merja Helander of Finland’s Lassila & Tikanoja has been re-elected president.
Braun (52) is managing director of BVSE – the German association for secondary raw materials and waste management. As a member of the board, he has been representing the German recovered paper industry within ERPA since 2004. Furthermore, he holds the position of general delegate of the BIR world recycling organisation’s paper division.
As ERPA vice president, Braun also has a seat and a vote on the board of the new European Recycling Industries’ Confederation (EuRIC), which was created in Brussels late last month. The new umbrella organisation for Europe’s recycling industries was jointly formed by ERPA, ferrous body EFR and non-ferrous organisation EUROMETREC.
