Russia – Russia has approved a proposal to impose a temporary ban on recovered paper exports, according to an official statement from the country’s ministry for economic development. The move is described as a necessary step to boost ‘poor supply’ on the domestic market and to encourage the converting of recovered paper.
The ministry has also announced that it will reduce the import duty on offset, calendered and coated papers to 5% in an effort to make magazine and book publishers ‘more competitive’. The reduced rate also applies to composite carton.
These actions are among several designed to stimulate economic growth, reduce costs for Russian companies and support specific markets, government officials point out.
