ALBA Group enters Spanish paper market

Germany/Spain – The Germany-based ALBA Group, the global recycling, raw materials and waste management specialist, has bought Spanish paper recycler Reciclajes DOLAF to further its plans for increased internationalisation.

The contract, stipulating that 99% of the shares in the paper recycling company were to be acquired by ALBA, was signed on April 26; the remaining shares are to be kept in the possession of the previous owners, the Donoso Lafuente family.

According to Dr Axel Schweitzer, CEO of ALBA Group plc & Co. KG, this means that two recycling operations have been added to the company’€™s portfolio, with one located in Madrid and the other in Valencia. In total, they boast an annual input and output volume of around 100 000 tonnes of recovered paper and cardboard.

‘€˜By entering the Spanish market, we are strengthening our position as raw materials suppliers in Southern Europe,’€™ states the CEO. ‘€˜The Valencia location also gives us access to Spain’€™s largest deep-sea port, which is a perfect fit for the ALBA Group’€™s international network.’€™

He adds that a new name for the Spanish branch has already been decided upon: ALBA Servicios Verdes, SL.
