Metals recycler Derichebourg has recently opened a new facility to recycle electric cables in France.

The site is at Escautpont near the Franco-Belgian border and has a processing capacity of 20 000 tonnes per year. The recycler says the recycled cables will yield copper granulate feedstock with a purity of 99%.

Backing

Derichebourg started construction at the end of 2023, with backing from the French public investment bank Bpifrance.

The French recycler is currently active in 10 countries across three continents, including recycling operations in Spain, the US and the UK.

According to Derichebourg’s latest figures, its non-ferrous metals recycling business made EUR 775 million in revenue in the first half of the current financial year.
