Asia – Suzuki Motor Corporation recycled 392 998 end-of-life vehicles in Japan in the period April 2016-March 2017. The carmaker’s efforts cost a total of 2,774.2 million yen.
Suzuki collected more than 50 600 tons of automotive shredder residue, which represents a recycling rate of 97.7%, thus exceeding the legal target rate of 70%.
Additionally, some 951 445 airbags were collected, which represents a recycling rate of 93.5%, thus also exceeding the legal target rate of 85%. Suzuki adds that it managed to recover 83,816.7kg worth of fluorocarbons as well.
Recycling fees and income generated from Japan’s vehicle-recycling fund averaged more than 3.2 million yen.
Suzuki has pledged it will continue to dedicate itself to stabilising the total recycling costs for the mid-and long-term.
