The International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), which is based in Brussels, has appointed John Rowe as secretary general and member of its executive board. He replaces Pascal Payet’Gaspard, who stepped down at the end of 2012. Rowe has been working in the stainless steel industry for the last 30 years and was previously ceo of the ThyssenKrupp Group. He also served as vice chairman of the Shanghai Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment. From 1991 to 2003, he was a member of the executive boards of the South African Stainless Steel Development Association and of the South African Iron and Steel Institute.
Dr Kevin Bradley, president of the Nickel Institute, praised Rowe’s ‘in’depth knowledge and understanding’ of the metals industry, calling him an ‘ideal leader’ of the ISSF.
