Iran – According to figures of the World Steel Association, globally some 4.4 million tonnes of direct reduced iron (DRI) were produced. This is a 6.33% increase rise compared to February.
For the first time, Iran overtook India as the world’s biggest DRI producing country. India came second and Saudi Arabia ranked third. According to World Steel, Iran’s DRI output in March totalled 1.29 million tonnes, considerably up from the previous months.
Meanwhile, DRI production this March rose ‘marginally’ to 1.22 million tonnes in India, and the Saudi Arabian DRI output totalled 420 000 tonnes. The latter is ‘modestly higher’ compared with the output of 395 000 tonnes produced in February.
