Hida Tec’s new ELV plant in China

Japan/China – Japan’s Hida Tec Co. has signed an agreement to build Guolian Automobile Recycling Co. of Tianjin, China, an end-of-life-vehicle (ELV) recycling plant. The facility is to be located in the biggest recycling area in northern China, set up under a Ministry of China Environment Protection initiative.

Hida Tec was recommended as an ELV recycler by the Tianjin government last year and then began searching for a local partner. The agreement with Guolian includes engineering, facility and technical solutions support. In April this year, Hida Tec also set up a joint venture in Malaysia with Gogo Jaan Industry. The former, which has already exported used vehicle parts to Malaysia, will accelerate trade with that country through the joint venture’s sales network. The company also plans to ship used vehicle parts from Malaysia to third countries. ‘Business in Malaysia will help our business in Japan where competition is increasingly intensifying,’ notes a company executive.
