United States – Japanese metals firm Mitsubishi Materials has set up a new division for its electronics recycling business within its US office in Los Angeles. The move is designed to boost the collection system for, most notably, crushed circuit boards.
North America’s e-scrap market is a top performer in a growing sector, observes Mitsubishi Materials. The company’s shipments from North America to Japan have remained ‘firm’, increasing to more than 12 000 tonnes in 2012 and approaching 30 000 tonnes last year.
The new division, which was opened on July 1, will enable the company to increase the volume of metals imported from both the USA and Europe as well as e-scrap recovered from the domestic market, says Mitsubishi Materials. The company is dedicated to ‘becoming the world’s No. 1 corporate group in supporting a recycling-oriented society by creating materials innovative for the planet, based on our unique technologies’ by the early 2020s.
