Dell rewarded for plastics recycling achievement

Global – Computer major Dell is the winner of the inaugural 2015 Catalyst Award for its commitment to closing the manufacturing loop by using 100% post-consumer recycled plastic in the making of new Dell products.

The Catalyst Award, which celebrates ‘innovative’ environmental accomplishments in the technology field, was presented to Dell at the Emerging Green Conference – an international gathering of technology and sustainability experts held in the US west coast city of Portland this week to discuss the challenges of sustainable electronics. Dell received the award for its incorporation of recycled content from old electronic devices into new Dell products.

The company’s OptiPlexTM 3030 All-in-One, introduced in 2014, was the first of ‘a growing list of Dell products to contain certified closed-loop, recycled-content plastic’. Between January 2014 and August 2015, the company used almost 5000 tonnes of recycled plastics in its products.
