BlueOak selects Tetronics for e-scrap venture

United States – BlueOak Resources has chosen Tetronics International’s plasma arc technology for the US-wide project to sustainably recover precious metals from e-scrap.

BlueOak’s first recovery plant will be installed at Osceola in Arkansas and will come on stream by the end of 2015, initially processing 15 million pounds of electronic scrap per year. And there is already talk of a ‘rapid expansion’. Tetronics’ patented process chemistry is designed to ‘symbiotically and preferentially’ separate and recover the valuable material in electronics waste while destroying any hazardous components.

In teaming up with Tetronics, BlueOak aims to ‘capitalise on the high demand for ”technology metals” like gold, silver, copper and palladium’ by creating distributed urban refineries across the world that recover high-value metals from e-scrap.

According to Tetronics’ ceo Graeme Rumbol, his company is looking forward to working further with BlueOak over the coming years ‘to ensure these critical materials are recovered at the highest level possible, and not wasted’.
