United States – Detroit-based retail store Battery Giant has signed agreements with franchisees to open stores in three new US markets of Florida, Colorado and Michigan in the months ahead. The move will see the company continue its focus on battery recycling efforts in local communities, it notes.

Utilising the Detroit area as a test market, Battery Giant has recently been distributing used battery collection buckets to businesses surrounding its stores, with the response to date described as ′tremendous′. Company president Greg Danziger comments: ′Great things are happening at Battery Giant. The battery distribution industry is an US$ 88 billion business, and the market is continually growing. Additionally, the green movement of battery recycling is another profitable revenue stream for the business.′

Battery Giant has thousands of different types of battery in stock – including for jet skis and for laptops – which are sold around the globe. The company estimates that the US battery market is growing at a rate of roughly 10% every year.
