Who will win the GreenTec 2016 awards?

Germany – Votes can now be cast to select the winners of the GreenTec Awards – prestigious accolades that celebrate green business. These are to be presented on May 29 next year during IFAT Gala Night in Munich and online voting for candidates in all categories ends on January 13.

Various companies spanning virtually the entire value chain hope to win in categories including automobility, aviation, recycling and resource management, and there is also a special prize for start-ups. A new category out of a total of 17 is the ‘Galileo Green Youngster Award’, which specifically applauds the sustainable efforts of those aged between 14 and 20.

BHS-Sonthofen is one of the award hopefuls for its next-generation refrigerator recycling system while Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute has made the list for its eco-design software tool for sustainable aviation. One of three nominees in every category is decided by online voting, with the others being chosen by a jury of 60 representatives from business, industry, politics and entertainment.

The panel will select the winners based on the innovation, cost- effectiveness, long-term application possibilities and media appeal of the entries.
