Thanks in part to a heavier construction, fully-bevelled welds and interlocking fabrication, the new shredder line is capable of processing 300 tonnes per hour with surges of 400 tonnes. The shredders range in size from 6000 to 10 000 HP and, according to Wendt Corp., provide more than three times the striking force of a typical 98×104 shredder. Hammers weighing 1238 lb with a swing angle of 130 degrees pack the heaviest punch of any automobile shredder on the market, according to the manufacturer.
In the USA, Wendt 130 HEAVY shredders have already been purchased by Camden Iron & Metal and Sturgis Iron & Metal; both companies selected an 8000 HP unit with a four-arm spider rotor and downstream solutions. Wendt has also sold a 106 HEAVY shredder to the PSC facility in Ohio, USA; this replaces a Hammermill shredder installed in the 1970s.
