Schacke’s General Manager Frank Schacke explains: ’We needed to buy a small crawler crane with specific technical criteria, and Manitowoc crawlers have an excellent reputation. The Model 12000 more than fit the bill. Its fast-turning slewing drive and hoists, combined with a very strong line pull, make it excellent for the work our company does. Although it can work at high speeds, we have found the crane’€™s control system works very well at low speeds also.’€™
Volker Krautwig, Manitowoc Crane Group’€™s Sales Manager for Central Europe, is convinced the Model 12000 has great potential in the European market. ‘€˜The market for crawler cranes is busy in Europe right now, and I am certain this will be the first of many Model 12000 sales,’€™ he says.
The Model 12000 crane can be equipped with a maximum main boom of 70 metres (230 feet), while optional fixed and luffing jib attachments extend the boom’€™s reach to 94 metres (310 feet). The crane boasts a 247 kW (332 HP) six-cylinder diesel engine and a full-flow hydraulic control system. It can be configured with a concrete bucket or clamshell attachment for material handling tasks, as well as with a hydraulic hammer for pile-driving duties.
Schacke operates in three business areas – used cranes sales, crane rental and harbour lifting – through its two companies Heinrich Schacke GmbH & Co and Leo Schwergutumschlag GmbH.
