The shredder is driven by two 40-horsepower motors with 42,000 normal cubic metres of torque, is designed to munch truck and car tyres and is the flagship machine for the long-established company.
The Panther weighs in at 3.5 tonnes, is 4.5 metres long and and stands more than 2.5m high, easily towering over the skilled tradesmen who built it at their Montgomery Cres factory. ’It’s set up to shred passenger and truck tyres but it can be configured to shred any product,’ says sales manager Neil Rees. The company has made other shredder models and is mainly exporting to Australia, the United States and Britain.
For the first time, the new machine has been featured at the RWM show in Birmingham. ’We’ve got ongoing sales for our smaller units, but this is the first time we’ve taken our biggest machine out of New Zealand for promotion,’ according to Mr Rees. The shredders are made “from go to whoa” in-house, with two in production at a time.
The twin has already been sold and delivered to a New Zealand operation, priced at the basic level, from about NZ$220,000 (about Euro 100,000).
