‘Overwhelming’, ‘grateful’, ‘humbling’ – just a few of the words used by recyclers reacting to the publication of Recycling International’s 2025 Top 100.
‘We’re thrilled to be honoured,’ says Paul Coyte of New Zealand’s Hayes Metals. With brother Chris, he kicks off this year’s list. ‘If I’m being truly honest, it’s a little overwhelming. We don’t know what to say. We are still working at our new plant in Western Australia and it’s 9 pm here. We are both blown away.’
Inflated ego
‘Thank you for including me on the Recycling International Top 100 list,’ says Andy Golding of Kripke Enterprises in the USA. ‘I’m genuinely humbled and I’ll admit my ego is now slightly (okay, significantly) more inflated at the same time.’
Golding, who’s chair-elect of the Recycled Materials Association, (ReMA) appreciates the recognition. ‘And even more, the work you do to highlight the people and ideas driving this industry forward.’
Incredible things
Stuart Kagan, the man behind online marketplace Buddy, comments on Linkedin: ‘A massive thank you to Recycling International for putting me in the Top 10. Everyone on the list is awesome and doing incredible things.’
It’s people
‘Every year I’m reminded that metal recycling isn’t just tonnage and targets,’ says UK metals recycler Amy Bird. It’s people. People who graft, care, show up even when it’s hard, and make this industry what it is. So to be included in this list for the second year running… I’m genuinely blown away.
There are some incredible names on there; leaders, innovators, grafters, the quiet ones who do the work without ever shouting about it, and I’m proud to stand alongside every single one.’
