Recycling International’s 2025 edition of recycling’s most inspiring people and practices from around the world is out.

This year’s Top 100 kicks off with New Zealand brothers Paul and Chris Coyte of Hayes Metals who are about to start operations at a new company in Western Australia.

Numbers two and three are among the record 47 newcomers in this year’s list: Bhavda Razdan is a metal trader from India while Thomas Derichebourg is head of the family owned Derichebourg Environment business in France.

India, Africa on the rise

With ever more recycling initiatives popping up across India and Africa, we’re also seeing more recyclers and best practice in those areas enter the Top 100. Nigeria’s Lawal Ibidapo and India’s Rajesh Gupta are only two examples.

Good to know

As with previous editions, the 2025 list is not ranked by scrap volume or company turnover. Put simply, it contains people who we believe are making the difference, are an example or inspiration to others, or stand out from the crowd.

Only winners

It’s important to underline that Recycling International’s Top 100 is not a winner-takes-all ranking event. Everyone in the list is a winner, whether they are at number 1, 37 or 99. Nor is it a static list because we publish the Top 100 annually. Each year, we want to make it more wide-ranging and comprehensive so, if you’re not in the list this time, you may well be included next year.
