World crude steel production during February was 148.8 million tonnes (Mt), up 3.7% increase compared to February 2023, according to the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
Of the 71 countries, reporting to worldsteel, Turkey’s monthly total grew by nearly 50%.
Among the top 10 producers, China is estimated to have produced 81.2 Mt in February 2024, up 3.5%. India produced 11.8 Mt (up 11.4%); Japan 7.0 Mt (up 1.1%); and United States 6.5 Mt (down 1.2%).
Meanwhile, Russia is estimated at 5.7 Mt (4.4%); South Korea 5.1 Mt (down 1.5%); Turkey 3.1 Mt (up 46.6%); Germany 3.1 Mt (up 4.4%); Brazil 2.8 Mt (up 13.1%) and Iran 2.2 Mt (14.3%).
