The home-built processing halls – which required a total investment 2.8 million Euros – are already in trial operation for some months. Two 60-meter-long lines are installed on 5800 square metres of flooring space. ’We are planning to expand and build a new hall,’ says Jorg Stahlhut with a sense of optimism. The general manager has worked in recycling plants of the STF Group worldwide ’from Lebanon and the Czech Republic to China.’
The location in Bremerhafen is running 24 hours a day and brings 40 new jobs to the city. The polyethylene flakes are sorted by colour, crushed into sacks, each approximately one tonne of weight, then loaded and shipped to destinations abroad. The location in the seaport of Bremerhafen will also transfer the output of the other German facilities. The new plant is expected to supply 25 000 tonnes of plastic flakes per year.
