American Pulverizer Company of St Louis, Missouri, and its subsidiary Hustler Conveyor will manufacture three 98×104 heavy-duty scrap shredding and recovery systems for Omnisource Corp. of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The order includes Hustler D-4 Cat track infeed conveyors, 6000 HP motors, automatic poker injectors, dual magnetic rotary drum systems, closed-loop single-cut cleaning systems, pick/sort conveyors, dual eddy current separation systems, non-ferrous systems for on-line or off-line operation, e-shred electronics control packages, and water injection systems.

Wendt Corp. of Tonawanda, New York, USA, has concluded the first two sales of its 130 Heavy shredder line to Camden Iron & Metal of Camden, New Jersey, and Sturgis Iron & Metal Inc. of Elkhart, Indiana.
The 130 Heavy is claimed by Wendt to be the world’s largest shredder. With a 6000 to 10 000 HP motor, it can process 300 tonnes of ferrous per hour – with surges of 400 tonnes per hour. According to the manufacturer, it can provide more than three times the striking power of a typical 98×104 shredder. Features include a 130-inch hammer swing and 1238 lb hammers; other hammer swing diameter options are 82 and 106 inches. All Heavy shredders are 115 inches wide inside the walls and 97 inches wide in both the feeding chute and the hammer swing.
