Izmir, Türkiye’s third largest city, is home to major industries including steelmaking, food, and petro-chemicals. Another is the manufacture of recycling machinery. Aymas Makina is among the key players serving a growing clientele at home and abroad.
Founded by Aytekin Yelekcioglu, Aymas Makina produces a broad range of recycling machines and solutions but the company is mostly known for its scrap (metal) balers and shears – made at its modern production facility some 50 km from Izmir.
Going strong
The company’s workforce is around 120 people. One of them is sales manager Mustafa Caglar, a familiar face at recycling trade shows. ‘Business is good,’ Caglar tells Recycling International during a tour of the production hall. ‘We’re seeing a slowdown of the global economy, certainly, but orders continue to come in and we’re still working two shifts.’
Down Under
Caglar joined Aymas in 2015 and has done his share to help the family owned business grow better and bigger. ‘We’ve got customers in 40 countries. Australia is one of our biggest foreign markets with 15 machines sold and in operation since 2019.’
Frankfurt hub
Another market offering a huge potential growth is Europe. In July, Aymas board member Yigit Yelekcioglu announced on LinkedIn the opening of a new branch in Frankfurt, Germany: ‘As a leading Turkish manufacturer of recycling machines, we’re expanding our reach to better serve our European clients. This strategic move signifies our commitment to sustainability and innovation on a global scale.’
Meanwhile at Aymas’ headquarters in Izmir, preparations are underway to expand production capacity. Caglar: ‘We have already purchased a new, big piece of land to extend our manufacturing hall and expect it to be up and running within two-to-three years.’
