Germany – Turkish steelmaker MMK-Atakas has taken delivery of 11 large material handling machines from Sennebogen in Germany.
The equipment is mainly for handling scrap at the new MMK-Atakas terminal in the eastern Turkish port of Iskenderun. Equipped with scrap metal grabs between 1.2 and 12 cubic metres, chamshell grabs and hooks, the machines have operating weights of between 45 and 250 tonnes,
MMK-Atakas is typically unloading 14 000 tonnes of material from panamax vessels of up to 60,000 DWT at the port, and reloading 20 000 tonne volumes.
Meanwhile Sims Metal Management, the world’s order scrap metal processor, has begun taking delivery of a major order for more than 20 Sennebogen 830M material handlers, each with a 17-metre reach.
The company is installing the equipment at multiple sites across the UK following on from its successful deployment of Sennebogen rehandlers in other facilities worldwide, mainly in North America and Australia.
