Recycling Aktiv show moves – but remains outdoors

germany – The Recycling Aktiv trade show – claimed to be Europe’s biggest open-air trade event and held every two years – is to move from Baden Airpark in south-west Germany to the nearby Messe Karlsruhe fairgrounds. The show will open at its new venue for the first time on April 27 2017.

According to event organiser Geoplan, it was not easy to find a suitable alternative location. The event requires 20 000 square metres of space for live demonstrations of heavy equipment and machinery. This is only possible with a correspondingly large outdoor area and on surfaces that are not sealed, while equipment noise and dust must not be allowed to inconvenience residents in the area.

‘This is where our fairgrounds score high,’ stresses Messe Karlsruhe’s Britta Wirtz. ‘We offer clear logistics and an adjacent, large outdoor area.’ Recycling Aktiv was first staged in 2007 and was expanded in 2011 to include the parallel TiefbauLive event. In June 2015, the show was held for the fourth time, setting a record of more than 12 000 visitors and 200 exhibitors.
