New website focused on Global Recycling Day

Global – The BIR world recycling organisation has taken another step towards its objective of creating a Global Recycling Day by launching a dedicated website to carry information on related activities, campaigns, stakeholders and supporters. The Brussels-based body has also established an online petition to which companies and others can add messages in support of the initiative.

BIR launched a brochure at its Amsterdam convention last October which details the thinking behind a Global Recycling Day, including increasing the profile and awareness of recycling worldwide while underlining the contribution of the recycling industry towards safeguarding the environment.

‘Our aim is to dramatically increase the visibility of the international recycling industry and vigorously highlight the important contribution of recycling to climate change mitigation and the protection of our planet,’ states BIR. ‘We are putting all our efforts into teaming up with strong partners such as the United Nations, but eventually it is with the support of our company members and national associations that we will translate this global initiative into an impressive statement on behalf of the international recycling industry.’
