According to a district spokesman, the project, which begun early last year, had taken long time to materialise due to documentations of the agreements binding the establishment of the project, before funds could be released for commencement.
In order to rid the region of plastic waste, the project, which currently has agents only in Elmina responsible for the collection of plastic wastes, has expanded to the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA), Abura Asebu Kwamankese (AAK), Mfantsiman and the Assin North and South districts for the completion of the first phase of the project. The second phase of the project will extend to the remaining six districts of the Central Region.
