Germany | Interseroh Hansa Recycling of Dortmund, a subsidiary of leading German recycler Interseroh AG, is to take over fellow German firm Albametall GmbH, the steel and metal recycling division of Berlin-based waste management group ALBA AG.
Coming into effect in the second half of 2008, the takeover will expand Interseroh’s activities mainly in the German provinces of Berlin, Brandenburg, Sachsen-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as well as in Sachsen and Niedersachsen.
The Albametall Group consists of 35 fully- and partly-owned facilities across Germany which processed an estimated 1 million tonnes of steel and other metal scrap during the course of 2007. Boasting more than 70 facilities and 1800 employees across several European countries, Interseroh processed some 5.8 million tonnes of recycled materials last year.
