According to the manufacturer, potential applications in the recycling and demolition sectors include the cutting of catalytic converters from end-of-life vehicles (ELVs). The ICU 5 can also cut: telephone, electricity, ground and steel cables; steel plate; tubes; pipes; door and window frames; and also wood.
A key advantage of the ICU 5 is its mobility. Manufactured from high-grade aluminium, this compact tool is strong but extremely light – thereby increasing productivity while minimising the physical effort employed by the user.
Holmatro has developed a versatile blade design for the ICU 5 incorporating a straight toothed part for grip and cutting performance, as well as a curved outer part to pull material in. Features designed to deliver safe operation include a dead man’s function and shielded moving parts. Also important from the point of view of safety, both hands have to be used when operating the cutter.
