Granutech kit opens up new opportunities

Powderising and fibre separation equipment from Granutech-Saturn Systems has been added at the Crumb Rubber Ireland (CRI) rubber processing facility. The new components are designed to create a significantly smaller, cleaner crumb product and, in so doing, expand CRI’s capabilities for marketing their end product.
’Crumb Rubber Ireland has enjoyed tremendous success since going on-line in late 2003,’€™ observes Mike Hinsey, Granutech-Saturn’€™s director of international sales. ‘€˜That success has prompted additional opportunities and made new and emerging markets available to them. The new equipment – a Granutech Saturn Powderizer and fibre-cleaning system – will permit CRI to process passenger tyres with high fibre content into 0.6 to 2 mm powder.’€™ The Granutech-Saturn plant at CRI processes 6 tonnes per hour into four granule sizes free of steel contamination. ‘€˜This literally opens a whole new world of opportunities for them,’€™ comments Mr Hinsey.
The Granutech Saturn Powderizer produces high-quality, consistently-sized crumb rubber particles, while separating remaining fibre and steel contamination for removal. The unit’€™s multiple-edge knives and contoured screen are said to provide processors with a durable and economical solution for the production of crumb rubber.
‘€˜In the past 12 months, a number of crumb rubber plants in both Asia and Europe have benefited by adding Granutech Powderizers, and current discussions could result in several new installations on two other continents,’€™ says Mr Hinsey. ‘€˜Its ability to provide clean product in the sizes now being demanded has allowed it to gain worldwide acclaim as the most versatile machine for the production of crumb rubber from scrap tyres.’€™
