European PVC recycling doubles in 2006

According to the latest annual environmental report of sector organisation Vinyl 2010, more than half of the reported increase in recycling is attributable to its Recovinyl project, which facilitates the recycling process by providing consumers with collection points and putting them in touch with recycling companies. According to the report, the biggest increase in recycling comes from rigid plastics like those used for pipes and window frames. Recycling of flexible PVC used in roofing jumped 1300% last year.
The Vinyl 2010 coalition is committed to recycling 200 000 tonnes of PVC by the year 2010.
