Eriez metal detectors Wavin

Archiv – Wavin of The Netherlands, one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of plastics systems for the building, construction and utilities industries, has installed three Eriez tunnel-type Model 20C Metal Detectors at its U.K. headquarters in Chippenham, Wiltshire, England.
Wavin looked to Eriez to provide a metal contamination solution which would also ensure a steady and continuous feed of recyclable material to their granulators. Wavin collects and stores plastics waste and other plastics components in large storage bins. Before being fed to granulators, the contents of the bins are decanted onto an inclined inspection table from which any over-sized pieces are removed. Water drains from the material through the table’s perforated deck.

Prior to the installation of the Eriez Model 20C Metal Detectors, the plastic waste had to be hand-fed into the granulators and manually checked for any metal contaminants. Now the material is tipped onto the metal detectors’ ’intralox’ conveyor belts, which are fitted with friction strips, and passed through the metal detectors. If no metal is detected, the material falls down an integral chute into the granulator; should metal be detected, the belt stops and a combined siren/beacon is triggered to signal which of the three metal detectors has been tripped. All three metal detector units are fully mobile to give maximum versatility on site.
