Germany | According to the IKB Deutsche Industriebank AG, world commodity prices have risen by 9 % in August 2009 based on US dollar. The markets have thus anticipated a recovery of the economy. Additionally, producer demand has contributed to the development. The world steel production currently ranges at the level of 2006. Prices for scrap are still volatile, but tended to become more stable with improved demand. In Germany, steel works start to re-activate capacities. Demand for scrap will therefore also increase. The limited supply for scrap, however, will run even shorter since low prices do not lead to high motivation for more scrap collections.
