United States – The US Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) has identified several changes in its Scrap Specifications Circular 2015, including three amendments, two additions and one deleted specification that have been approved by the ISRI board of directors.
ISRI specifications ‘serve both as broad guidelines and as a starting point in discussions between scrap buyers and sellers in the US and around the world’, observes the organisation’s chief economist and director of commodities Joe Pickard. ‘The new and amended specifications were made to more accurately reflect what is being traded in the scrap marketplace and to facilitate trade.’
The changes, which can be read in full via the ISRI newsroom at www.isri.org, affect: No. 1 Busheling; Radio (mixed hard/soft scrap lead); Relay (lead-covered copper cable); Vader (sealed units); and Darth (ballasts). The deleted specification pertains to non-ferrous material Rails.
