CarbonLITE secures AMUT wash technologies

Italy – Italian equipment manufacturer AMUT has been selected as an integral part of a new project at US company CarbonLITE Recycling.

A 20 000 m² plant at CarbonLITE’s Abilene facility in Texas will process post-consumer bottles into pcrPET pellets that can be used to make new bottles; output will be approximately 45 000 tonnes of finished product per year while total investment in equipment and infrastructure will exceed US$ 60 million.

AMUT machinery and technology will be utilised in many critical areas of cleaning the PET bottle stream. For the final cleaning of PET flakes, AMUT will be supplying its AX 150/5 equipment comprising patented hot flake friction washing technology.

The new plant’s front-end bale opening and bottle sorting equipment will be manufactured by Bulk Handling Systems of Eugene, Oregon, USA. CarbonLITE is one of the world’s largest bottle-to-bottle recycling specialists, producing pcrPET bottles and serving major beverage brands.
