They argue that the majority of the vehicles are being sold for spare parts or abandoned in cities whose authorities are then forced to pay for recycling.
There are now about 300 000 abandoned cars nationwide, the association estimates.
However, the country is seeing growth in the number of recycling facilities set up to comply with the requirements of the EU’s Directive on End-of-Life Vehicles, it notes.
