‘We all need each other in these trying times’

‘The situation across the planet has unfolded in an unprecedented way, affecting our daily lives, our interaction with our friends and family, and also our businesses,’ BIR president Tom Bird writes in a letter to members of the world recycling organisation.

‘In these trying times I want to reassure you that you can continue to count on BIR to be there for you and to provide the full range of membership services and products,’ says Bird.

BIR staff in Brussels are working from home. ‘We are online and at full disposal as ever,’ the president stresses. BIR has increased efforts to look for alternative means of bringing its members together, such as webinars or interactive trading platforms.

In his letter, Bird underlines the importance of standing together in facing the corona crisis. ‘We should not forget that we all need each other and that we are stronger as a community. Our work on your behalf continues as relentlessly as ever and therefore we need you to keep up your commitment to BIR as an essential guardian of the global recycling industry’s interests.’
