Recycling solutions provider Viably and manufacturer Turmec have announced their first collaborative project, a material recycling facility to process construction and demolition waste in Ohio, USA.
The partnership will deliver the facility for Boyas Recycling in Valley View, a suburb of Cleveland. Scheduled to go online in the Autumn, the MRF is designed to process over 150 000 tonnes of waste annually from the greater Cleveland area.
It will operate with an initial targeted recovery rate of at least 80%. The partners say a planned second phase of the project has the potential to push recovery rates upwards of 90%.
The facility has advanced process flow with heavily automated optical sorting and mechanical treatment, a compact footprint and minimal labour requirements, needing only eight sorters.
Milestone
‘This project marks a significant milestone for Viably [formerly Komptech Americas] and Turmec since formalising their strategic partnership earlier this year,’ says a news release.
‘It also represents another step forward for Boyas Recycling in its quest to evolve into a fully vertically integrated company.
‘With core operations spanning front-load service, container service, an active C&D landfill, mulch production, and soil and aggregate operations, this groundbreaking facility is key to its continued growth and sustainability efforts.’
