Grade A Recycling, a scrap metal and car recycling company in Louisville, Kentucky has been directly affectedly by the recent UPS plane crash near the local airport. The tragic incident led to the loss and injury of both customers and employees on site.

According to local media reports, at least 13 people were killed and 20 others injured in the disaster on 4 November.

The crash destroyed parts of Grade A’s site, which is located alongside Muhammad Ali International Airport, and disrupted operations, highlighting the vulnerability of recycling businesses located near transportation hubs.

Healing our team

‘Our hearts remain with everyone affected by this tragedy,’ says the company website. ‘We will be temporarily closed as we focus on healing and supporting our team.’

To support the victims, Grade A Recycling has initiated a GoFundMe campaign, with all contributions directed towards assisting the affected individuals and their families.

‘Deeply saddened’

The US Recycled Materials Association has contributed and many others within the ReMA community have shown their support, according to the industry body’s president Robin Wiener. On LinkedIn, she says: ‘I am deeply saddened, our hearts are with the Grade A team and everyone touched by this tragedy.’
